My work primarily explores the urban environment, and when reflecting on a focused interpretation of Melbourne, I couldn’t help but notice the widespread presence of graffiti on any flat, accessible wall. It often entertains me to see tourists snapping photos of our gritty laneways. This got me thinking about how graffiti, typically viewed as mundane, could be elevated to something more intriguing, perhaps even aesthetically valuable, through diverse interpretations—whether perceptual, religious, political, humorous, or abstract.
