Charles Blackman

Charles Raymond Blackman OBE (1928–2018) was an Australian painter and printmaker whose lyrical, dream-inflected works fused figurative imagery with poetic mood. Largely self-taught, he worked early on as an illustrator for The Sun and attended night classes at East Sydney Technical College.

Throughout his career he exhibited widely in Australia and abroad, and was honoured with an OBE for his services to Australian art in 1977.
