Collection: Kim Lynch
Kim Lynch studied design at RMIT before completing painting and printmaking at the National Gallery of Victoria School of Art under John Brack. His early career included painting, drawing and printmaking in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and India.
His practice has been shaped by an interest in mythology, Western symbolic traditions and Eastern philosophies, including Mahayana Buddhism and the yogic traditions of India. Periods of intensive meditation and yoga had a lasting influence on both his life and work.
Lynch later resumed studio practice in printmaking, painting and drawing, producing complex screenprints, large works on paper and, from the late 1980s, pioneering digital art and printmaking. His works are created as true limited editions using hand-drawn digital processes and archival materials.
His current practice explores themes of consciousness, the natural world, universal myth and symbol, and the mechanics of thought.
