Artist CV

Marketa Kemp is a Melbourne-based artist, born in Prague, Czech Republic, and now living permanently in Australia.

Primarily self-taught, Marketa has also studied with artists both in Australia and overseas, including at The Aegean Center for the Fine Arts in Greece. In 2017, Australian artist Wayne Viney introduced her to printmaking—a moment that sparked an enduring passion. Drawn especially to monotype, she embraces the medium’s one-of-a-kind nature, finding beauty in its unpredictable imperfections, spontaneous marks, and surprising results.

In recent years, Marketa has been a finalist in several art prizes, including the inaugural Megalo International Print Prize in Canberra. Her work has been exhibited in group shows across Melbourne, and she is represented by Queenscliff Gallery, PG Gallery, and Mesh Art Gallery (USA).

Marketa’s creative inspiration comes from landscapes that have left a lasting imprint—places rich in atmosphere, mystery, and hidden life. Her prints aim to stir emotion, whether it’s joy, melancholy, quiet reflection, or the spark of a distant memory.
